The Real Club de Golf de Tenerife was established on December 18, 1932, making it one of the oldest golf clubs in Spain. Its origins, however, go back even further, with predecessors such as the Orotava Golf Club and the Tenerife Golf Club. The course we know today was designed by several distinguished members of the club: Andrés Alberto, Antonio Lucena, Joaquín Laynez and Aureliano Yanes.
The course is located in one of the greenest and coolest areas of Tenerife, at an altitude of around 600 metres above sea level, within the municipality of Tacoronte. It features 18 holes, with a total length of 5,740 metres and a par of 71. One of its defining characteristics is the abundance of native trees, which are naturally integrated into the landscape and enhance the overall beauty and character of the course. The course has some uneven terrain, but the main challenges come from the many trees lining the fairways, the bunkers guarding the driving zones, and the flat yet well-shaped greens. The hazards are easy to spot, allowing players to plan their approach without worrying about unexpected obstacles around the corner.
Most golfers are likely to find it very enjoyable and will appreciate walking through the impressive surroundings. It’s definitely a course worth playing if you’re nearby. Throughout the round, you’ll be treated to beautiful scenery, including views of Mount Teide.
