Set high in the mountains near the spectacular Verdon Gorge region, Golf de Taulane is widely regarded as one of France’s most scenic inland golf experiences. Designed by legendary major champion Gary Player,  his very first course project in France, the 18-hole championship layout stretches across rolling alpine meadows, pine forests, lavender fields, and natural lakes at nearly 1,000 meters above sea level. The routing blends broad, inviting fairways with strategically demanding approaches, creating a course that feels playable for mid-handicappers while still rewarding precision and intelligent shot shaping for accomplished golfers. The cooler mountain air and dramatic Provençal landscape give the course a distinct atmosphere compared to the more coastal Riviera clubs.

For golf enthusiasts, Taulane’s greatest strength is its rhythm and natural integration into the terrain. The course constantly changes character from hole to hole, open parkland stretches transition into tighter tree-lined corridors, while several elevated tees frame panoramic mountain backdrops that make the experience memorable well beyond the scorecard. The conditioning is consistently praised, particularly the smooth greens and immaculate fairways, and the peaceful setting creates an almost private-club feel even for visiting players. Combined with the refined clubhouse dining, and tranquil Provençal surroundings, Château de Taulane offers the kind of immersive golf escape where players come as much for the atmosphere and scenery as for the challenge of the course itself.
