The Links at Fancourt is an exclusive, private club, with only a limited number of tee times reserved for guests staying at the hotel on the estate. Introduced in 2000, this remarkable course stands as a benchmark for world-class golf design and construction. Created by Gary Player, it reflects both his deep connection to the game and his long-standing relationship with Fancourt. Player himself has often spoken of the personal significance of this project, describing it as one of the defining achievements of his career. From his early involvement in shaping Fancourt’s original courses to captaining the International team here during the Presidents Cup against Jack Nicklaus, the estate holds a special place in his legacy, culminating in what he considers his finest design: The Links.

Widely regarded as one of the most extraordinary golf courses ever built in South Africa, The Links was envisioned by Fancourt’s owner, Hasso Plattner, as a course that would challenge golfers of all levels while earning a place among the best in the world. The result is a layout that combines visual drama with strategic depth, demanding precision, creativity, and thoughtful play from start to finish.

Inspired by the classic seaside links of the British Isles, the course features undulating fairways, deep bunkers, and fast, firm greens that test every aspect of a golfer’s game. Yet despite its difficulty, it remains fair, rewarding those who approach it with patience and careful planning. Every hole feels purposeful, shaped to create both challenge and beauty in equal measure.

Beyond the technical brilliance, The Links at Fancourt delivers an atmosphere that is both immersive and memorable. Surrounded by rugged natural landscaping and free from residential distraction, it offers a sense of purity rarely found in modern golf developments. Playing here is not just about the score—it’s about experiencing a course that has been crafted with vision, passion, and an unwavering commitment to excellence.
